Evan is doing pretty good... still a little congested in the mornings, but it's better. Evan has his doctors' appointments tomorrow and Thursday. He will see the pulmonologist on Wednesday. But, he's not going to see the heart doctor like we initially thought.... that appointment will be in August or September. Instead, he will see the orthopedic doctor on Thursday.... sorry about the mix-up. Please pray for good reports at these two doctor appointments. He is followed by the ortho. doctor b/c he has kyphosis, a hump in the back. It's common for kids with achondroplasia, and usually resolves on it's own, but they just have to keep a check on it. Also, since people with achondroplasia sometimes have problems with their legs and hips, they will monitor this as well.
Thanks for the prayers for Evan!
Sincerely,
The Rhodus family

Hello everyone,
I hope everyone had a Happy 4th! I just wanted to give a quick update. Evan is doing pretty good. He has been a little congested for the past week or so, but, thankfully, he hasn't had any fever or any other symptoms.
We go to Birmingham for doctor's appointments next Wednesday and Thursday, July 11 & 12. Please pray for safe travel and good reports. They will check blood work at the pulmonologist appointment, and if everything looks okay, maybe make another wean on the vent. or oxygen. They will do an echo. at the cardiologist appointment to see if the hole in Evan's heart has decreased in size or closed on it's own. Please pray that it will close on it's own, so that it will not require surgery.
Also, please pray that Evan will do better with his eating. I look forward to the day that he will no longer need his feeding tube, but some days I wonder if that will ever happen. I try to remain optimistic, but it has been a challenge. Evan has improved some with his eating, but the progress is so slow. I knew that it would be this way, because his doctors and therapists told me that it would be an extremely long process because he was fed solely by tube feeding for so long.
Evan has been getting stronger though.... Chris and I are encouraged by this. His head control is slowly improving, and now he is rolling onto his stomach, then from his stomach to his back all by himself!! Please pray that he will continue to get stronger.
Thanks to everyone who continues to lift Evan up in prayer. God has been good to us!
Sincerely,
The Rhodus family

Hello everyone!
Happy Father's Day! I just wanted to let you all know that we added some new pictures of Evan! Looking back at pictures from just a month ago, it seems like Evan has had a 'growth spurt'! He is growing, changing and developing more and more every day! We'll try to update the pictures often throughout the summer!

Hello everyone,
Evan is doing really well! He is still on 1/2 liter of oxygen and doing great with it!! He had a great week last week. Evan had his first 'trip to grandparents' house this past weekend! We went to Meridian to visit my family. We had a nice time, and Evan got tons of attention!! :) We went to my parents' church Sunday, and everyone was SO excited to see him!! They have all been faithfully praying for Evan and continue to! God has been so good to us in showing His love through so many of His faithful followers! We are truly blessed!
Thank you for continuing to pray that Evan will be able to breathe on his own soon. I will never give up!! God has already shown His goodness, and I know that He will continue to show us how good He is!! He has awesome plans in store for Evan!!
Thanks to everyone who continues to pray for Evan and show love to our family. I am continually amazed that after 20 months, we still receive cards, emails, people helping us out with wonderful meals, and people letting us know they are praying for us. God's people are so good!!! :)
And, even though, there is lots of evil in the world today that can cause despair, there is also a whole lot of goodness still in the world today!! God is so much bigger! He is amazing! I LOVE The Lord!
I hope everyone has a nice week!
In Christ,
The Rhodus family
